100 days of enemy recs: 82. Stargate Atlantis
I put Stargate Atlantis on this list because it really seemed like it should be on this list, and then I spent a lot of time squinting at it and skipping past it, because is it really enemyslash? Like it was a huge part of my fandom experience for awhile, but I read mostly John/Rodney (you kind of had to) and while they were sort of antagonistic for most of season one or so, they pretty much got over it after awhile (actually come to think of it that may explain why I drifted away only a few seasons in.) And I guess in the later seasons there were a fair number of people who shipped John and a Wraith? But I was mostly not super into it by then and anyway, part of the reason I quit is I didn't like what they were doing with the Wraith.
But then I went into my old bookmarks, and, oh right.
So you get a recs set of Rodney/Radek fic.
The capsule summary of the Rodney/Radek dynamic is: Rodney is the smartest man in the world, and he knows that very well, and he is going to make sure you don't forget that. (He might even be the smartest man in the world if they weren't stuck in a tiny outpost on an otherwise empty world! He thinks so anyway.) Radek is the second smartest man in the world. However, he feels no need to compete with Rodney, because he knows two things that Rodney doesn't know: first, that all the smarts in the world don't matter if you can't do people. And second, that nobody ever thought Radek was good at people until they had Rodney standing next to him for him to look good in comparison to.
