But both movies scared the heck out of me.

I've had a choice the past few days (courtesy of [journalfen.net profile] kyabetsu) between Internet and A/C, and I picked the one that I absolutely needed in order to function.

(And no, that was not internets! Contrary to what some people might claim. :P)

...Okay, I'm usually all about suck it up, it's only 103 deg F in the shade and humidity 88%, nobody needs air conditioning, but I'm still getting over an infection, even the *basement* is too hot to do anything active in, and it was a choice between sit still with a wet cloth on my head or get stuff done.

So the mood theme actually has progress on it!

Also, one of my fellow pornish_pixies charter members has finally made a statement about the recent unpleasantness that I can wholeheartedly agree with (especially the title!): And if you haven't read Watership Down yet, why not? (Only unlike her, I think I've already found my Watership Down, and it's here. Okay, maybe less a Watership Down and more a Thorn Valley, but still. It has talking varmints, internal politics, and people with poison gas, so it's good enough for me.)

Can't read Watership Down, giant slavering scary dogs will eat me.

The giant slavering dogs are not anything *like* the scariest thing in that book. d:

And if you haven't read Watership Down yet, why not?

Because my mom saw it, thought "bunnies! it must be okay for kids!" and gave it to me to read when I was, like, 10. I got traumatized about five chapters in, and I ain't goin' back.

That seems to be a suprisingly common answer. (I was licky enough to have an older sister who tested it first, so I didn't come back to it until later. Also, if people who have no patience for LotR, they probably won;t appreciate Watership Down either.

Although really, I didn't find the book that much scarier than the Rats of NIMH series, which were intended as kids' books!

Hmm, both movies bored the heck out of me, at age 8 or 9ish. I was not into the more serious cartoons with lots of brown somber colors. I'm a little curious if I'd like them if I rewatched them.

Yeah, neither movie really impressed me particularly - scared me under the seat, yeah, but did not go on my list of 'to watch again', either as a kid or an adult. Loved both the books though!
