Not titling this with song lyrics; you're welcome.

According to my ~highly scientific~ poll in my last post, approx. 30-40% of all Dreamwidth users have had songs from Les Miserables stuck in their heads ever since the movie came out.

I don't suppose those of you who are getting more active in the fandom would consider, as a kindness, "earworm warnings" for any quotes from the lyrics (including song titles)?

//just kidding

//mostly

//although it would be nice to be able to go more than 24 hours without hearing the people sing in the background of all I do. I've kind of forgotten what that's like.

Although I have gotten quite a lot of cleaning done while unable to concentrate on anything but listening to the soundtrack on repeat, so there's that.

(I tried putting on "Once More With Feeling" instead today; it only took about half an hour before One More Day was back.

I haven't tried Cabaret yet; that's the nuclear option.)

ETA: Warning: lyrics in comments.

I spent the whole of Saturday watching other musicals with a friend, and still came out of it singing who cares about your lonely soul ...

I think you'll find it's about Marius. There are very few scenes that aren't about Marius, he's actually pretty clear on this.

(I do love him storming in in 'One Day More' and dramatically proclaiming his allegiances to no response from anyone.)

...god I used those lines as chapter headers in a Harry Potter fic once.

Ahaha, really? That's beautiful.

I have more or less made my peace with the notion that this will be the soundtrack of the rest of my life.

Writing a hundred-and-mumblety-thousand-word epic about doomed French people is an excellent life choice. I see no way this could go wrong.

(Especially with Highlander crossovers.)

I really, really want more Temeraire crossovers. There's one little tiny story whose awesomeness taunts me with the glorious epic potential of Frenchboys + dragons.

I do not want to write these crossovers.

I love musicals, and I love Les Mis. And yet, when I was watching it in the theatre, and Marius starts off with "There's a grief that can't be spoken," my first response was "So he's going to sing about it instead!"

I mostly get "Can You Hear the People Sing" and "Master of the House." Although now I get "I Dreamed a Dream" a lot, thanks for that, Anne Hathaway.

You could try getting some new music! I got a two-disc Vivaldi set and a Pablo Sarasate disc for Xmas, but I needed something with lyrics. Spent an hour or so cruising Billboard for songs I'd heard on the radio in the car, and wound up with three new (to me) artists and a very catchy song by Janelle Monae.

I'd have "Do you Hear the People Sing?" in my head except the original lyrics mix up with the way I originally learned it, a parody for my former choir's "presidential convention" musical revue.

And I've got "White and Nerdy" on my iPod now to drive out earworms!
