It's a weird day, y'all, and it's been awhile since I've done something like this, so: have a shipping meme.

Give me a fandom in the comments and I will tell you which pairing or poly ship in that fandom:

1. Is the forever ship of my heart
2. Is the one I don't have a lot of feelings about but know I can always go back to for long comfort fic
3. Has the best porn
4. Is just NO

(Caveat: fandom must be large enough to have significant amounts of fic for at least four pairings)
(Caveat 2: it does not have to be a fandom you have heard me talk about much or recently, because let's face it, if it has that much fic I have probably read enough to be able to answer these, although that is not a dare.)
(Caveat 3: all answers to 4 are in the spirit of ykinmkato because I am enough of an Old to believe in that.)

I have no idea if Rivers of London, my first thought, has at least four pairings. And I'm a little squicky about Muppet porn, which was my second thought. In fact, I keep jumping to children's media (thought three was any Diana Wynne Jones universe!), which really puts a damper on the whole "porn" aspect of things.

How about Thief of Eddis?

With Thief of Eddis you've found one I've never read in (partly it doesn't really have enough longfic to draw me in without the canon, partly I kind of want to maybe get around to reading it unspoiled someday.)

I probably can do the others though!

Muppets:
1. Rizzo the Rat/Oscar the Grouch (if you have seen the original Muppets Christmas special, you will understand.) Also, Bert/Ernie.
2. Sadly I don't think there's enough enough longfic in Muppets for this to exist, but tiny!me in her first fandom would like to vote for Maria/Luis.
3. Anything crossover, probably involving Jack Harkness and/or Farscape characters (I feel like the band probably gets up to pretty wild stuff, though.)
4. Honeydew/Beaker. That is *not* a healthy dynamic, yo.

Rivers of London:
1. Nightingale/Mellenby
2. Peter/Thomas probably counts in that I have transferred most of my active feels to Beverly/Peter/Thomas poly V
3. There are a total of 8 fics on AO3 rated E that do not involve Peter/Thomas, so I guess Peter/Beverly by default because their canon scene was great.
4. Peter/Lesley (even before she went bad, their canon dynamic was really not my thing. Although I might be okay with screwed up hatesex for them in current canon.)

Agreed that Maria/Luis needs to exist, although (on the off chance that your bullet three is sheer wonderful coincidence, and you haven't actually read it) can I put in a rec for the shockingly good Jack Harkness/Miss Piggy story by sanguinity, "Pigs in Cardiff". Somehow, magically, it's not just a joke; it's a real and awesome story. Not porn, though.

Honeydew/Beaker is ewwww.

Rivers of London:

Beverly/Peter/anyone would probably be amazing porn, come to think of it. Also I would be Nightingale/Dr. Walid before Nightingale/Mellenby, but that's mostly because I feel like Thomas deserves good things and Dr. Walid is as good as it gets. I find Peter/Thomas squicky but then I don't like master/apprentice relationships in general.

I think Molly/almost anyone would be the kind of fuck, no which would involve me be totally icked out while peeking through my fingers and then reading everything in the tag and hoping for more.

Also not surprisingly my favorite Thief of Eddis works are the ones which deal well with his hand. lightgetsin has "A Temporary Inability to Go Either Up Or Down".

Also, dammit, I've just sorted the Queen's Thief tag by length. I'm going to regret this, I'm sure of it.

Have you watched the Christmas crossover special? Rizzo spends the night in Oscar's can, it's practically canon!

I had not read that one! THANK YOU. (I think the only actual explicit Muppet porn I've read either involved Farscape characters, Star Wars characters, or that one Angel episode, none of which quite count.)

I recently learned that there are people who think Honeydew/Beaker is squee-worthy and it made me sad. Beaker is awesome but someone really needs to give him the number for a domestic abuse hotline and/or an academic union organizer.


I ship Thomas/Having Been Happy For Awhile Before The War as a specific subset of Thomas/Good Things, but I feel you. And I have been enjoying the heck out of the Thomas/Abdul that is turning up on AO3 lately, but I sometimes think that maybe Abdul deserves better than Thomas, and also I feel like there must be a lot of Dr. Walid in the canon I haven't gotten my hands on yet because people keep referencing things I don't remember, so I don't personally ship it (yet).

I am not super in to master/apprentice as a dynamic, but (like a lot of people) I got into the fandom via the Wizardry by Consent au, which does not have that dynamic. Also , Peter being Peter, this pairing is probably the power differential pairing I've read that does the best job of being super into healthy communication about the power issues and doing everything possible to mitigate it before the relationship goes anywhere. (But, Beverly exists, so, the m/m version is not the ship of my heart. And Beverly/Peter/Nightingale is interesting because in the wider politics Nightingale and Beverly each sort of think the other one outranks them except not, and Peter sort of has power over both worlds because as the mediator neither side can afford to lose him, so moving that into an OT3 of three people who already respect each other a lot just does super interesting things to the power dynamics.)

...I think I am with you on Molly and porn. As long as you could sell me that Molly was into it.
