OK, I went and took Saturday off work.

Now I get to decide if I want to:

-Go to the last-ever goodbye by-the-bag-clearance sale at the BIG used books warehouse
-Go to the big protest in DC
-Go to the littler protest in Annapolis or Baltimore
-See if the timing works to go to the book sale AND the Annapolis protest

Is anyone planning to go to the DC march?

I am super-hesitant go without being part of a group, having done giant events in DC before and having some idea of what it's like, and I'm not currently hooked up with any local groups of the sort that would send people. The ones in the other cities will probably be smaller and calmer, since most local people will probably make the short trip to DC. On the other hand if I did have a group to hold my hand it would probably be worth going to DC...

Monique is going with my mother and an SCA friend. You could try to meet up with them - I just texted you Monique's phone # (I don't want to subject Martin to two 8-10 hour car rides two days apart, so we're staying in Ann Arbor but will go to the march here.)

I remember you mentioned that! I was going to call tonight - I'll see what's going. We would almost certainly have to meet before we got to DC, anyway, based on previous experience there will be no finding anybody once we're there.

AFAIK, Ellen Fremedon, jrho and sharkie are all planning on going to the DC one.

I am, but I am having health-related second thoughts. I really, really want to go and hope I will make it.

I have been just plain low on cope lately so I have been vacillating but I think I will regret it if I don't go to at least one of the sister marches. :/ They do seem to be keeping accessibility at least a little bit in mind, so unless things go terribly wrong DC might be doable even with health-relateds? (I have no odds on whether things will go terribly wrong, though.) I'd love to meet up with you all if you do.

If you decide you can't do DC but still want to go, I will happily buddy you to the sister rally in Arlington (it is meant to be v. low-key) or the Annapolis march, which is a shorter route and only has 500 rsvp'd and will almost certainly be much easier to leave early from if necessary, and will involve yelling at the MD state capitol building, which I have done before and is always fun. Also I could go to the used book sale first. :P

DC is going to be much easier for me than Annapolis, just because of travel times--I'm only coming from Silver Spring and I can walk to metro--and I don't think a smaller one would necessarily be better for me. (I'm recovering from a kidney stone and suspect I may have the weird almost-asymptomatic UTI I got the last time I had a kidney stone; bottled water and portapotties sounds like a recipe for dehydration and I'm not sure that's a good idea right now.)

It will probably be a day-of decision whether I go at all.

Ah, yeah, the joy of trying to Do Stuff with UTI symptoms. :/ I sympathize deeply.

I'm going to my local protest for health reasons, i. e. I get to go straight home afterward and not face massive travel times.

(My mom is not a fanperson but she is wonderful and has gotten used to compensating for other people's health issues, what with having a disabled daughter & all.)

Yeah, travel to the DC one is going to be a mess even for locals, it always is (I see they finally added more metro trains, at least.)

Yeah. She's driving down from New England with friends, staying with their friends nearby overnight, and then getting there on local transit.

just emailed you about a possibility. You did go to the first Obama inauguration, DC for this would be an appropriate bookend? The book sale is tempting though.
