Guess what, everyone! It's time for Hobbit birthday presents!

And I have cleaned out my library!

Any books listed in the Great Giveaway Collection on my Librarything is being gotten rid of. Many of them are review copies I was given, and I'd like to pass them on to you guys, if you want them!
So check out the listing, and comment here if there are any you want, first come first serve.

If you want a few, I know you and you're in the US I'll send them to you USPS book rate (if you want to pay me back for postage in DW points, that would be great, but you don't need to). If I don't know you and/or you're not in the US and/or you want more than a dozen or so, comment anyway - in that case, I'll probably want help with postage - but I mostly just want them going to a good home.

I can't find a book with the specific title "A Guide To Middle Earth" on Amazon -- can you find me a listing anywhere for the volume you have? Unless it's one of those vanity things with no real useful depth to it, in which case never mind.

You can either mail straight to me, or drop things off with my parents and let us work out how to get them sent =)

It's A Guide To Middle Earth by Robert Foster, in the 1974 (pre-Silmarillion) paperback edition - an amazon listing of my edition. It's mostly a concordance of proper names, with some family trees in the back, apparently reprints from articles in the fanzine Niekas, but since it pre-dates *any* of the additional materials, it's mostly interesting as an item from the history of fandom, not as a reference volume.

(Or you know, just in case civilization collapses and you can't get on the internet but you really really need to know who the Heathertoes were, it might be vitally important then.)

We can wait and see if anyone else really really wants any of the ST ones? I don't foresee them being in great demand though, so I suspect you can just have them.

Sorcery and Cecelia is claimed, it looks like! But if I see another copy for $.25 cents before I send yours out, I'll toss it in. :P (That book was on my 'to buy' list for so long I buy it on reflex whenever I see it now, I think this is the third or fourth copy to pass through my hands.)

Re librarything: May I link you to this thread, which covers most of it? I really like it, but it's much more focused on functionality than usability, if that disctinction makes sense...

Even better because I was about to chicken out and keep some of these but now I know they are going to a good home!

Significant Objects annoyed me as a project (The idea was apparently "we are going to buy some things dirt cheap at yard sales, associate them with stories written by famous writers, post them on E-bay, advertise the project everywhere up to and including NPR, and then claim it's something inherent to the stories rather than EVERYTHING ELSE that made the price go up.") But the book is very pretty and full of really interesting short-short stories based on photographs of American vernacular objects, if you ignore the framing! I hope you enjoy it.
