I love public transit.

...okay, some days you sit for four hours in the freezing cold and wind in a parking garage while the bus doesn't come, and when it does come, it's a Ford Expedition with a piece of looseleaf paper taped in the window. Those days I'm not too fond.

But on days when the weather is beatiful, and all the connections work out just right, and there's unsecured wireless internet at the bus stop, and you get to spend an hour talking with a cute Americorps boy about art and philosophy and Neal Stephenson, and you have an hour layover at just the right place to spend it in a museum you've wanted to visit for ages, and you get to watch the sun set over the harbor the electrical substation, and fall asleep to the sound of your music while the bus gives you an all-body massage and the city lights go by in the dark--

Then I love public transit.
