There's a post currently going around Tumblr about the four-step perils of starting your day off thinking you'll get so much done, and then.... not, but I would like to counter with the opposite, which I have encountered today:

1. It's my day off, I'm going to get so much done!
2. Wow, look at me, I'm getting so much done!
3. Wait, if I don't get absolutely all of this finished and put away by the end of the day, I'm totally screwed until the next time I luck into a day like this.
4. I'm totally screwed

So, uh, just a reminder to self the next time I get nothing done on a day off, there are worse things! And now I get to decide if I stay up way too late getting stuff finished and put away or I just let it get left out for a month.

If I don't start a day, especially a day off, thinking I'm gonna get so much done, I am guaranteed to get nothing done.

So even if I get through 1/100th of my list on a positive day, that's still a net win!

I always start my day off thinking I'm going to get So Much Done, but the odds are not great. Lately I've been experimenting with starting the day off thinking this is a Do Nothing day, I needed one, and honestly that seems to give about the same odds! (With bonus that I don't beat myself up if I Do Nothing.) But there was stuff that desperately needed doing so I managed it on one of my three days ;_; Except what's still sitting out in the hall.

Oh god, I feel both versions SO MUCH. (Don't ask me about the project that's been lying around half-done since mid-December ...)
