I think Les Amis are working for the Pansystem University of Mihira and New Tidelands, crewing a ship that is 100% absolutely just a research vessel - they're all grad students! - and all the planets that overthrow their corporate overlords shortly after it leaves are entirely coincidental. The ship is named Pontmercy and it is still learning about human emotions and stuff, but it really likes love poetry.

Meanwhile, Jean Valjean is not actually a rogue SecUnit, but Murderbot was absolutely convinced he was for over a week after they mutually rescued each other.

(Javert *is* a SecUnit with a bugged governor module but you would never know he was rogue. Or, generally, ever know he was there.)
