100 days of enemy recs: 51. Mac vs. PC

So, who still remembers those TV commercials with personified Mac and PC? Who remembers how very, very shippy they were? PC was a gentle, sincere nerd who liked math, and Mac was a pretentious hipster, and they stood in a blank white space and bickered, shippily? And somehow they were supposed to make you like Mac better, but they kind of backfired, because they just made you want them to be (boy)friends, and also why would you pick the pretentious hipster? It was John Hodgman and Justin Long in the US and David Mitchell and Robert Webb in the UK?

They ran for three years and were always in Yuletide and I bet you, too, had completely forgotten them until the random number generator found them!



Bonus mention of that time I requested Dreamwidth/Livejournal for Yuletide and got four treats!

Hahaha oh my god. I remember these commercials… but also, I laughed at the line in the second one about Mac being a green/turquoise Mac, because I’m willing to bet many people currently on the internet would be very confused by that physical description

It's amazing how different the computer world is in those, less than fifteen years ago! Android was still in preschool then!

They were very cute, both versions. (I will admit to liking the US ones better though, Mitchell and Webb were already too established as a dynamic.)
