I am getting really into Fat Bear Week this year. It's the first year the voting is off facebook, so I can participate! First rounds today! (Neither of them seem very close. They are, however, all excellently fat.)

A vote that really matters because all the possible winners are the best. Fat bears!

(Quick, someone nominate the bears of Katmai for yuletide before the deadline runs out tonight!)

My impression from the Yuletide Discord is that someone did nominate them, although I don't know which bears ;)

My sister and I nommed a bunch of the brooks river bears, but not necessarily the Fat Bear Week bears (though some of them are in the mix... Otis and Grazer and 812 I believe). Someone else may have also nommed some!

All of the bears are the best bear, but Holly is the most best of all and I'm rooting for her to regain her crown!

There are so many possible criteria: total weight? % difference pre- and post-gorging? even and majestic distribution of said weight? general attitude?

I think everybody but Holly is running at a disadvantage this year, because they are not Holly.

Holly is definitely still the frontrunner but I am not committing at this point in time. :P

I think total gain has to be an important factor - it's not as impressive if they're just fat all the time. And general shapeliness matters! And I want to give points for attitude. It's some very tough decisions.

Holly is my queen and my role model! I'm in the bag, heh. (But all the bears are good.)

Honestly, part of what sold me on Holly last year, besides her general personality and great mom vibes, was how evenly and methodically she packed on the weight! Her commitment to stuffing salmon in her face was incredible!

God, I love all the bears so much.

Grazer is where it's at. She's fatter than Holly, and has *2* cubs, and a significant injury (now a badass scar), and I watched her catch 28 salmon in 3 hours back in July. QUEEN!
