Vuffi raaaaa!!!
Okay we have just been to see the new star war and I am sure there are many deep things to say about that movie but all I've got on the way out of the theater is the kriffing Starcave of kriffing ThonBoka is kriffing movie canon now and this is the best thing to happen to me since I found a copy of the Lando Calrissian trilogy at Goodwill when I was 13.

They don't really have a lot to do with the rest of SW canon (UNTIL NOW!!!!); they're set in an obscure part of the Rim where the Empire isn't active and before Lando knew any of the other canon characters, and before any of what we think of as the extended canon had been developed at all. But they have some really fun sense-of-wonder worldbuilding, the original attempt to work out a set of rules for Sabacc, a lot of Lando being Lando, and my #1 favorite Star Wars character ever, his droid Vuffi Raa.
And they kept referencing bits of them as Lando's movie backstory! So Vuffi Raa is clearly now canon because you can't have the StarCave Nebula without Vuffi Raa. Also clearly somebody writing that movie read the trilogy to get ideas on how to flesh out Lando's character, encountered his partnership with Vuffi Raa, and decided that as of now a core bit of his characterization is that he has really weird relationships with his really weird droids, another thing I super approve of as Lando characterization from now on. ^_^
I have no idea how easy it is to find these days - it was one of the first batch of Star Wars extended canon to come out, in the late 70s/early 80s, and keeps being declared out of continuity and going out of print, and then declared back in continuity and getting a reprint, and then going out of print and continuity again. I guess they're back in continuity again ( He owned a small moon in Oseon! :D ) but I have no idea when the most recent reprint was. I think in the last couple reprints they were in one omnibus volume just titled The Lando Calrissian Adventures.
(I started reading SW novels back when the Thrawn Trilogy, the one with the Luke/Leia romance, the original Han Solo trilogy and the Lando were all that existed, and everything but the Thrawn Trilogy required scouring used bookstores.)
