First post!

You know what? I think the absolute most appropriate thing I can possibly put in my first-ever-Dreamwidth post is a rec for my sister [livejournal.com profile] stellar_dust's just-posted DW ficlet (DW as in Doctor Who, not DreamWidth, although the reason it's so appropriate is that the DW could, totally, also stand for Dreamwidth, because it is a story about the unspeakable eldritch horrors that lurk in the hearts of web-page-coding and the awesomosity of women and computers, all in just 325 words):

A Perl of Great Price.

Go read it.

This is melannen again, just testing using an openID from the comment box.

Woohoo! It worked!

Yeah, I have added to my list that DW needs to make it clearer that non-validated openID accounts are apparently counted as anon commenters, while validated ones are counted as logged-in users - going on about how everybody can use a easy OpenId account while half the users are default-set to screen them seems like it's asking for trouble!

(Am using my validated dw openID to see whether it's counting as anon or logged-in here.)

I went and put in an email address.

...And gmail promptly dumped the verification email into spam. Hopefully that's just peculiar to what I've been binning, rather than something that's going to happen to a lot of people.

d3wd. This is totally awesome.

I'm gonna play with this (http://siege.org/projects/phpMyID/) later. If it works, d'you want a melannen.katycat.net OpenID?

If it can do subdomains, I'll probably get one for katycat.net AND stellar-dust.katycat.net. I'm trying to be all, like, responsible, and get my identities a bit more vaguely separate than they have been!

Testing, testing... boo!
