Ahhh, American politics.
These people? My people.
Also my people!
I missed the debate tonight because I was at a rehearsal for our local faith-based social justice umbrella group's annual October summit meeting. (Their website is still of teh suck, alas.) So have my biennial "Pay attention to politics" post: Time to check to see what's on your ballot that isn't a national race, and decide which ones you care about, and where you stand. Just 'cause the presidential and senate races are big, doesn't mean local candidates and ballot items aren't important! They may be *more* important, in terms of directly impacting your quality of life.
There is even a Wiki for checking your local ballot measures now. So no excuses, my fellow Americans! If it has a wiki, it must be important, right? :D
Maryland has two constitutional amendments up for popular vote this year, but they're both big ones: slot machines (on which there seem to be only two possible positions: a) I think it will make me, directly, richer! and b) God no. On the upside, it's totally not split along party lines) and early voting, about which I have yet to decide, but it is also a big issue this election cycle.
...Anyway, tomorrow being currently open, I plan to make it my Day Of Getting Things Done That I Have Been Putting Off, to wit: gardening, clean bathroom, post one of the ficlets I owe, officially re-open lj, post book giveaway lists, work on art, catch up on reviews, post a fanmix, update resume, turn the compost, do Sarah's mending.
We shall see.

That wiki is of no use to me; Loudoun County is defined as 'permission error.' Luckily I've already looked at the official website; all we have is the national people, school funding & a food tax ..
The debate was actually somewhat exciting; they talked to each other and responded directly to each other's assertions! It was still a talking-point-fest, but at least this time it was a marginally interesting talking-point-fest. :D
BTW, I need to talk to you about Halloween plans.

Yes, plans!
Also you need to find the computer cord for your PDA, because the one you gave me is not it.

Yes. Should I have a party here? (I figure there's a chance you guys are already planning one - house, and all - but then you also probably don't need to keep giving parties.)
Ugh, really? I'll take another look around for it. Did you get it charged up to play with, at least? I know there's lots of XF fic and a couple ebooks on it, plus lots of random software that looked fun.

I got it charged up to play with, but as far as I could tell, it was at factory-default settings - it put me right into the "so you have a new Zune" tutorial the first time I turned it on, and I can't seem to find any old saved files or non-standard software. And since I don't have a cord that actually fits it, I haven't tried putting anything else on. (graffiti is fun, though, and so is the doodle program. It's like having a TI-86 around again, only with a stylus!)
Either you wiped it when you stopped using it, or being un-charged for so long wiped it, or something.

... anyway, does the paperwork or cd-rom say anything about what kind of cord it needs, and it is it worth looking for a new one?
Shall probably do the party then. I'll decide for sure by Saturday; I was hoping the maintenance people would have fixed up my apartment by the time I got home today, but it hasn't been touched yet. All that stuff needs fixed pre-party, definitely. Hmm.

Sarah says she is up for party too, unless things happen. (Assuming she's invited)
no subject
Excellent! Of course she's invited. Probably invite most of the people that show up at your parties, and internet people and some work people ...

Possibly the one you have goes with my *old* camera, which means I should probably give it to Sam since I gave him the camera. Can't think what else it mgiht go with. And I've *NO* idea where else I might have stowed the PDA cord .. well, I'll keep an eye out for it.

The one the palm needs is shaped like the top one here (http://www.usbcable.com/cat8.htm). Is the one you have shaped like that?
The one you gave me is much like the bottom one on that page.
