Today, I:
1. played music for the entire church service
2. excavated a squirrel skeleton from the front yard, with the help of the little boys across the street
3. posted my miseres fic only six days past the deadline
4. rode my bike five miles in effort to map out possible bike routes to work
5. watched the new Cosmos episode (I liked that one! possibly only because of joly feels though.)
6. finished putting a new zipper in a favorite skirt

I feel like that's a good day full of accomplishments? Especially the squirrel skeleton.

On the other hand, today I:
1. played music very badly for the entire church service
2. did not write nearly as much miseres fic as would be required for it to be good as opposed to just tolerable
3. discovered that new zipper will not stay zipped and needs a button or something at the top
4. did not do any cleaning that desperately needed doing
5. did not do any laundry that desperately needed doing
6. did not do any of the computer-based, non-miseres-fic things that desperately needing doing

ANYWAY:

Con.txt is soliciting panel suggestions for the next week or so! I put a few in (you can probably guess which ones...) and may end up putting more in if the list doesn't get much longer. I feel like the current list is pretty short on specific-fandom stuff? But there are already Avengers-ish, Les Mis, and WTNV panels on there, and I am actively uninterested in most of the other large fandoms that are big enough to have wide appeal ATM, so other than a broader Avengers panel, I'm stuck on ideas. Anybody have any specific fandoms they think should have panels?

(It's going to be really weird going to con-txt as someone who's been basically monofannish in a large-ish fandom for the past year. really weird.)

Also, is anybody going to con-txt and thinking about getting person/people to split a room with? I have income this year (yay!) so can finally justify staying at the hotel, but I have no idea how to go about getting people to room with. I am a very considerate roomie? I will have a car on site? We could have a Les Mis room party? Anyone?

It's really hard to say? Con.txt is such a small and informal con that a lot of what you get out of the experience, from what I've heard from lots of people, is based on how the social aspect works for you - and that can be anything from sit in the back of panel rooms not talking to anyone, to being the life of every party, and it works fine at Con.txt, as long as it works for you?

But if you go in wanting to be the life of the party and end up sitting shyly in panels instead (or go for the intellectual discussion and end up in a vortex of interpersonal drama instead, both of those can happen), idk. I am quite good at avoiding the social and interpersonal excitement by dint of completely failing to notice that it's happening, so I am not really best at judging that.

I'll say that if the idea of spending a weekend hanging around in RL chatting about fandom with the sort of people you meet on Dreamwidth sounds like fun, Con.txt is probably worth a try, because that's basically what Con.txt is.

Any idea on topics, or, like, is a general fandom thing good? I was thinking along the lines of "yay everyone is in delicious complicated power relationships with everyone else", but that might be too narrow. :P

You mean for a Vorkosigan panel specifically? I'd probably go for general fandom for a fandom of that size, just to cast your net broad, but you could mention power relationships as a possible topic in the panel description, and then on the day of, cleverly distract everyone else into talking about nothing else....

(oh, man, should I suggest a panel on Sedoretu? I suddenly want a panel just on sedoretu. I got an "evil ducks" panel in one year, so...)

I was! (Uh, you have about a one-in-four chance in general of it being a panel I suggested, which is why I'm not allowed to suggest any more.) There's now tow volunteers to mod it! I guess you aren't the only one who squeaked. :P You should press the button fast if you want to get in on that, I think. (I think that is a panel that would do well with a larger group of mods, though. Lots of opinions!)
