turntables
Homestuck fandom is dangerous guys.
I'm not even going to get into the Sufferist tracts that keep appearing on my desktop, or the growing pile of amigurumi trolls, or the vast amount of soul-searching that the PWP fic I'm working on has engendered in me, or the continual temptation to get a tumblr despite the fact that I still hate and fear tumblr - let's just say that at a flea market this morning I bought a Mixman DM2 USB turntable remixing thing forthe control system of the time machine I'm building in my basement no particular reason, lalalala.
It is a interesting little toy! I have no idea what I'm doing with it of course, but initial poking around seems to imply that it's really specifically set up for remixing rather than any of the other things one might possibly do with a pair of turntables, and of course it's approximately 99% less cool than a deck on which I could mix vinyl, but vinyl turntables appear surprisingly rarely at flea markets these days, even single ones (yes, I do regret the fact that I wasn't wise enough to hoard more of them back in the day, when they were going for approximately $.10 the dozen, especially as both of mine are currently broken) and I only paid $2 for it, so I guess I don't regret it too much. :D Even if finding and installing the software was way more hassle than it should have been.
...other than that we've been taking advantage of the ridiculous weather to do massive amounts of yardwork, including shifting around ~12 tons of gravel on the driveway and the new rock garden. And I planted some vegetables yesterday! Which probably means it's going to snow next week. But if I'm lucky we'll get pole beans, carrots, and zucchini from seed, and I'm planning to put in some cherry tomatoes in a couple of weeks, and maybe if I'm brave enough sweet potatoes, since, um, we sprouted some over the winter accidentally. (I've never grown anything potato-y before, and even my mom doesn't remember doing that in her family's gardens, so I have no clue what I'm doing there.) If results are more typical I'll get maybe half-a-dozen cherry tomatoes and everything else will die shortly after sprouting, even the zucchini. ^_^
