5 things currently making me happy:
1. I finished one of my wips on the kink meme! Which is the first story I have *ever* finished that was longer than 10,000 words (in fact, it's the longest by about twice over). And it brings my word count for the year to about 37500 words - which makes me halfway to the 75,000-words-in-a-year goal.
\o/
Mind you, I also have another WIP on the meme that I need to do something with, plus two other kinkmeme prompts I really want to fill, plus three other stories in the fandom I'm working on, plus stuff outside Dresden fandom, but w/ever, I have proved I can do it.
2. BBC's Red Nose Day is doing 24 hours straight of live streamed comedy panel shows, viewable in the US. :D !!! I am only sad that I didn't hear about it until it was almost a third of the way over. (There's still over twelve hours to go!)
3. I recently discovered that our local public library offers free full access to Ancestry.com, and I am not terribly impressed, but the full searchable scans of old census records were pretty cool if you're still doing the simple stuff (even if the search itself wasn't great), and I managed to trace two more generations back with that mysterious great-grandfather I was trying to find last fall.
Also, evidence is building that what he did after he left my great-grandmother may have been run away to join the circus.
4. It is spring here! And the other day I found a whole new set of trails back in the woods near my house. So I've been going out and walking for at least half an hour at least four days a week lately, after a winter of more-or-less just hibernating, and my general happiness levels are already notably higher. (Also, I have to say, I get a lot more writing done when I'm a quarter-mile back in the woods overlooking the creek valley, there is no visible sign of people, and I can't get internets.)
5. My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.

(Dresden Files in general is just the ideal sort of fandom for me to get into though, too. That's helping. Bookverse + familiar milieu + lots of canon but not constantly updating + faily enough that it doesn't make me feel inadequate but not faily enough to make me constantly angry + built on genres and mythologies that I'm already really comfortable writing in + huge world with lots of minor characters and worldbuilding that carry through = the fic just kind of flows when I let it. It really is a Harry Potter for grown-ups.)
