I know nobody on this flist cares, but I have to say: Watching the Highlander Horsemen arc while you're still in the headspace where Mac is an Abdal and Methos is a (very, very bitter and screwed up) avatar of the Lone Power? Just makes it *that much better*. (I think Kronos is actually some kind of Dark Aspect of the Champion. For several reasons, but it doesn't really get confusing 'till Ahriman shows up, and I haven't re-watched Archangel yet, so.)

(What? I just read some really good HL/TW crossovers, and they made a Highlander joke on the Daily Show, f'god's sake. The video was just sitting there saying "watch me! Watch the HL episodes you've seen nine times already, not the DVDs your sister ordered you to watch!" -- I blame it on the blahs, which have settled down from "feeling icky" to "head cold", which is only better in that now I can at least pin down the symptoms. Highlander is just so ... comfortable that way. You know that whatever happens, there'll be warm sweaters, good food, and people who do love each other and are very good at what they do.)

Anyway,

...oops. wrong cat. There's apparently a nonaligned family living just down the trail from the apartment! I saw at least three and possibly there were more, but this is as close as I got.
(And the weather's been about at miserably drippy as me all day, so I didn't get back out to the trail to see if they were still about.)

"Darcy's being stupid-looking again, isn't she? Put the camera away already!"

I desperately need to watch Highlander again. I loved it, but the reruns went off air before I became obsessed with historical fencing and I really want to watch it again, if just for the swordfights. (Naturally, it will be much more than that, but)

Cute cats!

I actually picked up the whole series on VHS at a swap table at a con a couple years ago. They're a wonderful fannish artifact - taped off the air during the original run and then carefully copied over with the commercials cut out. Whoever they originally belonged to really loved Highlander a lot! Whenever I get around to re-watching it I'm amazed at how it's actually good.

I have Forever Knight tapes like that. Although, sometimes it's even awesomer to have the commercials left in because talk about cultural relics.

Yeah, every so often there's an episode with the commercials left in. The neat part is I'm so used to watching off the air these days that it doesn't register that they're tapedq. Until I start wondering why the commercials are so much less annoying on this show than all the others.

Awww, kitty!

I don't have cats anymore, so I'm living vicariously through you. (:

I;m only borrowing them, so I have to go back to living vicariously too in just a few days. :(

I picked up some of first season on VHS at Goodwill a couple of months ago. First season...does not hold up so well. But I seriously need to pick up the Horseman arc and zomg I totally know which book series I'll be rereading over the next week. :)

Yay! I read mostly in the Methos corners, so I'm always pleasantly shocked when I go back to the early eps and they're not bad. you're right though: S1 is not the best.

I'm kind of in the mood where I crossover Young Wizards with *everything* (not that this is a bad thing.)

Oh, I still need to catch up on HL. I stopped at early season 5, so right before the Horsemen stuff. Maybe this weekend....

Season 5 is what I've seen the most, but that's largely because I have a sad kink for Really Old Guys. Definitely you should see the Horsemen stuff, though.

Ha, nice icon! I was all psyched up by "No Money No Object", but then came "Haunted" and "Little Tin God" and I was suddenly more interested in watching something else. Those are about my two least favorite episodes of Highlander ever. But I am intrigued by the Horsemen story, even though I've only seen it in fanfic.

Swear to god, Unca Scrooge takes a Quickening in the comic my icon is from. :D

A lot of Highlander disappoints, but the Horsemen episodes totally live up to the fanfic for once! In both good-ness and OMG slashy-ness. (If you ignore Methos' wig and the deeply stupid Quickening visuals, anyway.)

[identity profile] stromatolite [journalfen.net] 2008-04-09 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, I saw it. Yeah, that is the most slashy thing my brain can take. In fact, my brain is blown. And it is awesome as well.

My husband thinks its awesome, and he is not seeing it through slash goggles, so I'm trying to understand the awesomeness from his point of view, but it's just not happening. Excuse me if I'm not making any sense. Gah.

N'AWWWW WOOKIT DA WIDDLE KITTIES!

(That is actually a very good picture of the Darce.)

I saw a feral kitty in the mall parking lot here, but it would not let me get close either.

(WATCH ARK OF TRUTH!)
