rly tho, pls not b evil?

I just got my "paid account will be expiring" notice from LJ. Which incidentally also marks my five-year lj-versary.

The sad part is that if you'd asked me a month ago, I would've said "eh, I don't really need to renew anyway; I don't use my extra icons that much and it's the only thing I'll miss. But SUP hasn't been too evil, so maybe I will anyway."

Now? Lj's not getting another red cent from me. Ever. ...only. Comment editing! Thread expanders! ohh I will miss them so much! especially when reading 5,000 comments of angry newspost every day.

Really, the conversation I'm having in my head right now goes almost exactly like this one, right up to the point with the human womens and beers.

Come to think of it, human womens and beers sound like a really good idea...

Dude, go download the Livejournal add-on for firefox to get comment unfolders, and then greasemonkey for the script that gets rid of the last traces of ads!

... oh, wait, you don't use firefox.

I don't *need* firefox for that; Opera has awesomesauce built-in adblock.

I will have to see if there's an unfolder widget for Opera. Have not messed about with widgets much, since Opera usually doesn't *need* them in order to get basic functionality. :P

...so d'you have a firefox thingy for comment editing?

Is there a greasemonkey script for comment unfolding?

There's tons of them - just run a google search on livejournal thread unfolder.

i'm currently working through to see which one works best, since I'm too lazy to try to find other peoples' recommendations..

meh, the LJ addon I have works fine; I'd just like it to work on IJ and JF too, but I haven't worked out yet how and/or if I can make it do that.

Oh, and let me know if you find something that works on all three platforms at once!!

http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/14141 works on all three journal sites, has "unfold all" but does not re-fold, or unfold whole threads. but it is good enough for me for now.

Where's the firefox thingum-thing?

[identity profile] stellar_dust [journalfen.net] 2008-03-19 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Here's the firefox addon (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4536). It does a TON of stuff; I have most of it turned off, I just like the comment un/refolders and the automatic ?format=light do-er thingum.

Maybe I'll grab that one anyway and set it for IJ and JF ..

sadly, no comment editing.
