Just this once, everybody lives!

I was given a suprise birthday party yesterday! When I really should have been studying for my statistics exam! (Just like now!)

Best birthday *ever.* I got two presents that I've wanted for *ages*: [livejournal.com profile] crochety gave me a really nice, (more-or-less) brand new, unabridged, illustrated copy of Le Morte Darthur. [livejournal.com profile] stellar_dust gave me a Curtiss Jenny! (Okay, it was 1/48th scale. And disassembled. But still! A Jenny! <3)

But the best part was, there were people! [livejournal.com profile] crochety, [livejournal.com profile] stellar_dust, [livejournal.com profile] speakerender, [livejournal.com profile] kenosis_kalon, [livejournal.com profile] zodiaccat, [livejournal.com profile] enemy_anime, [livejournal.com profile] xerahanadu, [livejournal.com profile] katrianya, [livejournal.com profile] kiskameow, [livejournal.com profile] keyosko, [livejournal.com profile] lonym82, [livejournal.com profile] ibowieh3, [livejournal.com profile] bonemarch, and ... possibly also some people whose ljs I don't know ... jumped out at me when I came home from cleaning my aunt's cat's litter box, all covered in cat hair.

If the purpose of a birthday party is to make you less regret the year gone by, it worked. I may have pretty much wasted 23 years and have no future plans at all. But. I've gotten a chance to know all those people, so my life is good! It really is.

Also, dorkiest party ever, which was awesome.

Of course, now I'm going to fail Statistics, and I didn't have time to get any Mother's Day stuff together for Mom, but it was *totally* worth it. I love you all.

Now, to try to figure out what are the chances that two out of three checkers randomly placed on a 5*5 board will end up in the same row or column. yay.

Happy early birthday.

Thanks!

Haha, glad the enjoyment may have outweighed the failing of statistics.

Also, it is just 2 out of three, or is it 2 or more out of three?

At least two out of three. And you're allowed to have two checkers on the same square.

Happy birthday!

Happy birthday! Sorry I couldn't make it, what with living in California and all. But still, surprise!

Hokey-est line of the entire current series of Dr. Who! Or perhaps I should say "last series" since it is over. (In-laws in Australia means we got DVD copies of the whole thing ages ago. Soooo good.)

I have seen all but, I think, two episodes of the series currently running on Sci-Fi (not the series currently running in the UK, which is a later series) and they seem to fall into two categories: blah but watchable, and OMG SO GOOD!

"The Doctor Dances" was the second sort. (:

I'd be interested in which ones fall into which categories. The finale was terrific, I thought, since it tied everything together so perfectly. I could probably have done without the one early on about the flying dead people. Which ones would you call 'blah but watchable'?

The one with the Victorian ghosts, yes, not great. The one with her father, too - it had some good bits, but was half cliche and half incoherent. There may have been some others, but right now I can only recall the awesome ones.
