alternative career choices
For a very long time I resisted using bookmarks. If I wanted to come back to a page I could just *remember* how I got there, or post the link somewhere, or leave the tab open, right? But lately I've given in and started using them every so often. And now I've a new computer, and it seems just a s easy to post the links as transfer the bookmarks, so, here they are: the current contents of my bookmarks folders.
Things to Make and Do
I started marking these because long, long ago I found a site with instructions on how to make a radio out of a watch battery, some cardboard, and a gum wrapper - and then i could never, ever find it again. So:
A One-Dollar Compound Microscope
Pointy Dog Theater: DNA extraction
How to mod a webcam for infrared
Make-your-own light bulb
Making Elemental Silicon from sand
The yurt-building link is dead. *sob*
Things to Think About
E-texts I want to work through, and thinky essays
Anomalies and Curiosities of Medicine
Beccaelizabeth - Sociology, the interesting bits
Biochemisty Online
Burgess Shale Fossils
Earth History
Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds
Olduvai George
Perpetual Motion
Science Fiction Citations for the OED
The Turkey City Lexicon
Ursula Vernon on composition
Ursula Vernon - smashing plates
Serials
Sites I need to check every-so-often
Interrobang studios
Li'l Abner at comics.com
Terry and the Pirates podcast
xfjournals_flist
AACPL
Brooklyn Superhero Supply Company
Firefly Pinyinary
Historic Tale Construction Kit
LibraryThing
Pandora Radio
It's not by any means a recs list, or even my favorite sites, but it's all *interesting*, and as a portrait of the inside of my brain it's probably fairly accurate.

If I'm not very much mistaken, that was FREAKING BILLY MILES on House tonight. Have you been withholding X-Files references? ;D
