a truth universally acknowledged
My mother, my sister and I watched the BBC pride and Prejudice last night, with Darcy-cat exploring around us. I do believe that there is something wrong with mine and my sister's womanly sensibilities, because invariably whenever Mr. Firth appeared on-screen with his puppy-dog eyes and romantic longing, we both of us cracked up laughing. (Stellar_dust wishes to add: but he's so cute though! He is *adorable*! She refers to him in exactly the same tone of voice she uses on Darcy-cat.)
For all that it's meant to be a comedy, those were not meant to be comedic scenes, and yet as my sister said, we could not help it. Because boys are *silly*. And very amusing. Particularly when they fancy themselves in love. And I do believe that Elizabeth would quite agree, although indeed it seems never quite so funny when you are the object of the affections.
(It is every bit as faithful an adaptation as I recall. Although I had not previously remarked that *every* new scene involved Mr. Darcy semi-clad. *snerk*.)

It's a very good adaptation, to be honest, and the acting was very good. And I am not complaining about the addition of Darcy minus clothing.
