So I did the AO3 update I've been saying will happen! A bunch of anon meme fics. I decided to compromise and post them all as new fic to give them some time in the spotlight, then go back in a week or two and give them correct original posting dates. This may seem like blatant attention whoring, but I've decided I'm just doing justice to the stories. Yes.

Anyway, other than the stories that have already been linked or posted here (Fire Working, the Dresden Files/Middle Kingdoms crossover, and the newly [badly] titled Being the Cool Uncle, the Harry Potter ace!Charlie story) the newly de-anoned fics are:

Sweet Oblivion, a Dresden Files/Vorkosigan Saga crossover, in which Thomas Raith visits Vorbarr Sultana and mixes business with pleasure (both of them by way of Byerly Vorrutyer.) ~3500 words, semi-explicit m/m sex scene, low-level White Court consent issues.

Reasons Not To Fuck Harry Dresden Through Nearest Wall, Dresden Files, in which Kincaid is writing the eponymous list and Ivy the Archive offers to share some other examples of the genre. ~1500 words, language, lots of implied 'ships but nobody actually getting busy.

Life in Medieval Chicago, a historical Dresden Files AU in which Harry and friends live in Chicago c. 1200 CE. I am desperately conflicted about this one! It's a story that replays the beginning of Storm Front in a Precolumbian American Indian setting, it is the first race-bend-y story I have ever posted, and danger of kyriarchy fail aside, writing a historical AU in a setting where the history is patchy at best and heavily contested at worst and there are no good examples to follow is already terrifying. But I want this history to be part of the popular narrative, dammit, and the only way that's going to happen is if people make the stories, so I have braved up and de-anoned on this one. ~1500 words.

Queens High, a Dragonriders of Pern/Dresden Files crossover/fusion/AU. Archith's first mating flight goes badly wrong, with help from Denari Weyr, and Riders and Holders alike have to step up to prevent disaster. There are three different queens rising to mate and over a dozen canon characters show up in one guise or another: 'ships include Harry/John/Sheila and Bob/Lasciel (it makes sense in context!) and sort-of-but-not-exactly Gard/Hendricks. There is the squiffy gender age and consent issues that come free with any McCaffrey canon, but I tried to do justice to them in the fic (partly by foregrounding them), and the actual sex is as consensual as mating flights get. At ~11000 words this is the longest completed piece of fiction I have ever written, and I'm not sure whether to be proud or hide! (Also 2 of the 6 longest finished stories I have posted on my AO3 are dragonrider!AUs. Um. Oops?)

That makes all the Dresden Files anon meme fics from the first two rounds of the meme that I'm (currently) willing to put my name on.

Start Again, which was originally published on the UK Lolitics anon meme under the title "Cameron Comes Out" (and was started almost exactly a year ago.) Modern British Politics RPF, in which David Cameron comes out as bisexual on camera and Nick Clegg curses a lot in Dutch. This is blatant wish-fulfillment fic about the coming-out that I wish would happen, but somehow part of that was making it as realistic as possible so it's actually surprisingly still vaguely canon even with all that's happened politically in the past year. I'm also still proud of myself that I've actually written a slash-y fic in which MSM and blood donation are 'plot'-relevant, although considering there are several thousand fics in a fandom where this is something most of the characters are actually on the record about, and this is one of two fics I know of that even touches on the issue, perhaps there's not too much to be proud of. ~4000 words, gen, lgbt themes.


Also, while I am AO3-ing: somebody mentioned awhile back in a post about de-anonning on AO3 on brownbetty's journal that the AO3 has an anonymous collection: you can post your fic to that collection, and it stays anonymous as long as it stays in the collection, but you still have access to it in order to edit or delete or de-anon it or whatever. This is awesome! I haven't used it (yet) but more people should to know about it and post to it, at least until AO3 has a petter way to handle anon fic.

(Ever since I realized that my mental casting for Harry is basically Mika and my mental casting for Marcone is basically Taylor Hicks, I have been filled with the irresistable urge to draw slash fanart. Too bad I am not better at it! And yes, I want the rockstar!AU even more now. Harry on guitar, Lash on vocals, and Butters on drums. Heck it wouldn't even have to be an AU-- the last Summer Knight had an art career, Harry can sing the blues.)

ETA: Today's fannish friday five is five favorite fictional beverages, but the first three I thought of were Nafsu Cola, Bullfrog Root Beer, and Fleegix, so perhaps not.
