So, have lots to talk about, but nothing really to say. But given past experience, posting a silly nothing entry helps break the block.

So Mom put on the Daily Show, and it annoys me more the more I watch it, ya know? I mean, it's really funny, yes, but I wish there was a news show like this that took itself more *seriously*. Okay, that didn't really make sense... I want him to be the sort of person Tucker
Carlson wanted him to be, ya know? A sort of punditry version of f_w. That doesn't take itself seriously or the news seriously, but takes the *truth* seriously ... of course, I still prefer that to the news shows that have lotsa self-importance but no respect for the truth or the fundamental absurdity of life. (And I include in that assesment the PRI shows I was listening to on the way home from Salisbury. *arg* if I want to hear about the tsunami, I want to hear about the *tsunami*, not the whining of privileged people who can't get over their own damaged pride. I could have deduced the whining *myself*)

Plus, Howard Zinn was on and he got my dander up. 'Cus, you know, I *was* taught history out of Las Cosas. In a reasonably crappy public school, too. Many of the kids currently of recruitment age were raised in a post-Zinn world, it doesn't *work* anymore to pretend that if you'd just teach history that way, they'll give a war and nobody'll come. What it's taught me isn't that War Is Bad, we must stop war... what it's taught me is war happens, learn to live with it, and cruelty is the natural state of humanity, and you have to run faster just to stay in the same place... sorry, my cynicism is showing.
