(no subject)

I should be studying for my two exams tomorrow, but my thoughts on petrology lab are currently, "Rimming relationship! bwahahah!" and my thoughts on groundwater are currently "Getting head! bwahahah!"

So I thought I would just give in and revert all the way back to twelve and get my sci-fi geek on instead.

First, [livejournal.com profile] redshirt. How is it possible I had not read that before? Best. journal. ever.

I had a dentist appointment yesterday that Mom came and got me for, and while on the way there I broached the topic of moving a bed out of my bedroom at home, so that I could put in more bookshelves. (There are only five bookshelves there now. I need more.) I also got my new glasses: Yay! My first ever pair of thick black dork frames!

Mom is at [livejournal.com profile] stellar_dust's place now. Hi Mom! Hi sister! I told Mom to say that [livejournal.com profile] stellar_dust had to come home this summer so I could watch all her pirate stargate episodes.

Random SG1 question: Does Jack have naquadah in his blood? It seems like he should, but it's never mentioned and I've not seen the relevant episodes.

How Lightsabers Work. The new movie comes out on my birthday. I have no interest in seeing it anytime soon. (And I told Mom I wanted to celebrate my birthday the same way I celebrated Mother's Day (by avoiding schoolwork and sleeping a lot. Because I am a bad daughter, and also I can't possibly be twenty-two already.)) However, I should totally write that Sam Carter Builds a Lightsaber fic. (I've already done Daniel Makes Waffles, after all. *ponders Sa'akhu*<--psst: long, Daniel-centric, very silly)

The two fics I've actually been working on in my copious spare time are Jack/Thor babyfic and the SGA/War with the Newts crossover. And that Fifth/Six fic I threatened a week ago, 'cause it's been ages since I've tried to write smut. And I grabbed a random Alexei Panshin novel to read during finals so I don't drag my laptop there, and it's been too long since I've read a random '60's sci-fi novel, and also the Viscount calls to me.)

Glorious. I know what I'm doing tonight..

Aww. But there's only 9 entries. Guess I'll have to go back to reading the archives of Schlock Mercenary (blame Valerie). Or doing something actually worthwhile, like practicing mandolin.

Well, he *is* a redshirt... not the longest life expectancy there. Wouldn't have been nearly as realistic if it was longer. Would have been nice though.

Yup. Just the idea of Star Trek from a grunt's point of view is neat, since the very idea of grunthood is so counter to the whole feel of Star Trek.

I know. As soon as I got informed enough to realize that *everyone* in Starfleet was an officer ... Starfleet stopped making sense to me. Who does the grunt-work then? ... oh right, the officers. (and yet there are these tantalizing hints of yeomen and petty officers... should know better than to try to make it make sense.)

Ah, yay for SF where nothing works, everyone's covered in crap and has no money more than half the time, and more than half of everyone is insane or incompetent. I still think hhgtg is about the most likely vision of what the future will be like. Plus ça change, as the French say..

Somebody really should write a Catch 22 / Star Trek crossover. But I should go to sleep.

Yes and no. Jack has been implanted twice-- the first time with a proper Goa'uld (from Hathor, looks like Apophis' lineage) and the second time with a Tok'ra. The first time his poor symbiote was flash-frozen before it could blend with him, so he would *not* get ex-host bennies from that. The second time the blending was complete, so he would have naquadah in his blood and protein markers and be able to use a hand device after "Abyss." That's my $.02, anyway.

Fans have asked the writers about this and they say that because the very idea of being a host so squicks Jack, it will never ever be mentioned again on the show.

Hmm. Okay. I was pretty sure that his Hathor-induced goa'ulding had left him untouched (I did see that episode, although I assumed the poor kid was Daniel's q:), but I wasn't sure if Kanan leaving voluntarily and/or the repeated deaths right afterward meant he'd been left clean, since nobody ever talks about it. That makes sense though: Jack *wouldn't* talk about it, and I guess they haven't put him in any situations where it'd be important.

Ok. Who's Six?

Jack: What she said. Also there's that ancient gene thing, which must have been harped up on in the Atlantis pilot? Every time I saw it mentioned it seemed like an established fact. *has also now dl'ed SGAS1*

*bookmarks fic*

You should have come with Mom. d-:

I was hoping SW would come out this weekend so I could take her to see it. Nope. Bleah.

GO CALL SOMEONE ABOUT YOUR FIELD SCHOOL, btw.
