I'm here in my mind
*Cracks up all over again* That was the most metafandomy SG1 episode *ever*. Talk about the difference between watching a show as it happens and seeing it all condensed into one storyline. Talk the difference between being part of a fandom and being a lurker, and authorial intent. Talk about pure uncut fourth-wall bending *joy*. (I have a feeling it would have been a rather ehh episode if not for the metafandom joy, actually, but still. And no, I don't see myself in Joe at all.)
In celebration, a crossover drabble that probably nobody on my flist will get. Except maybe
stellar_dust if she's still watching Sci-Fi Friday:
Acceptance (100 words)
Joe opened another rejection letter, and sighed, ready to quit. A magazine had come too, by a publisher who'd rejected him, and he opened it halfheartedly.
"What is it, Joe?" his wife asked patiently.
"More rejections. I don't understand it! I mean, Stargate has *got* to be better than this crap they're publishing! Look at this one: prehistoric viruses and hybrid children and this guy who killed JFK. And they thought the *replicators* were cliche."
His wife shrugged. "You know I'm not into that science fiction stuff."
Joe shook his head. "What has Jack Colquitt got that Jack O'Neill doesn't?"
I'm telling you, there's like three dozen plots that all sf shows are *required* to go through in their run.
Although now I'm upset that all those lovely Wormhole X-Treme fics have been made non-canon. And I'm getting the scary urge to get back into drabbling again, too.
Oh, and those two fest fics I've been talking about are both up now: White Hallows, at
earthsea_fic, and Skylark (which is such a crappy title), batfic/PotC, at To Timfinity...and beyond.
Now to catch up on a week's worth of comments and stuff that I've been ignoring.
Edit: That was... random yet surreal. The guys who drunkenly kicked in my door last week after the Duke game just showed up to apologize and flirt.
