yummy

The best thing about volunteering at the middle school this week is being excited about hearing a two-hour snow delay on the radio. Ah, the nostalgia. Also the nostalgia in general.

The *second* best thing is that one of the county servers we have to connect to to do inventory is named the silverserver. That's just endlessly amusing. Really. No, *really*. Why does nobody believe me?

Mrs. Spencer had the inauguration on for a while. I watched very little of it; I just kept thinking hopefully, "No hats? Have they forgotten the lesson of old Tippecanoe?"

Also, since [livejournal.com profile] frey_at_last asked,

The Sacred Crayon Box (which much always be carried very carefully by the handle or smiting will ensue)

Everybody needs a big box of crayons. They are the best thing ever for curing stress of any kind.

Also, you can do crayon art.

Is it not nifty? That's, clockwise from top, Kira the Dragonrider showing off her leathers, Flame the young empress, Spec the mercenary, Feri the traveller, and Wind the priestess. Not bad for all-crayon, really.

On a completely different note, am I the only person who thinks Static Shock is one on the best shows on TV right now? Mom makes this *face* whenever I put it on.

Crayon skills! I don't think I could ever manage to actual draw something with *edges* using crayons, so I'm impressed! Hee. Especially the pattern on Feri the traveler. Are all those large plastic shapes a) crayon sharpeners and b) McDonalds toys? Or maybe I'm imagining the blue milkshake and red fries to go with the hamburger. Of course they could always be c) big plastic shapes.

They're crayons, with little holes in the bottom so they fit over your fingers like finger puppets. I think the milkshake and hamburger and fries were actually from Wendy's. *g* The others, for some reason, are shaped like elephants.

They don't actually work very well for coloring, inexplicably.

I impressed myself, too. I didn't think *I* could do that with crayons, but I thought I'd see how well it was possible to do.

Can't say I ever really got into Silver Surfer.

And understandably so! Seriously though; it's not a horrible show. It seems fairly realistic. (Y'know, apart from the whole meta-human thing.)

All I really know about Silver Surfer is that he's got the most awesome origin story ever. *And* it's a reaaly good name for a server.

You mean meta-humans aren't real?

Yay for crayons! I like to color and draw with crayons on occasion. I have a Big Box put away somewhere. I've graduated to Prismacolors recently, tho. A bit more precise, but a little less fun.

I have a box of prismas somewhere too. They kinda lose the fun randomness you get with a big box of old crayons, though. You know, "Wait, I thought this was brown, not cherry red," or the ones that are a different color depending on what angle you color with.
