kde
I am so *totally* typing this entry under KDE.
(and yes, KDE makes me feel like a valley girl. Sweet.)
dreamsquirrel stopped by and showed me where to look. That's what's frustrated me constantly on this OS; it's usually pretty easy to do stuff, if you're not afraid of reading a little code, and *you know where to look*. But the only way to find out where to look is to ask a real person, because all the documentation is *wrong*.
Of course, my mom's car radio has the same problem.
And me is scared of real people. It's winter. I should be building my nest of dry leaves to go dormant till April. Actually, when I grow up, I want to get a job that lets me do that. Seriously, I could sleep twenty hours a day burrowed under blankets and furs and dry leaves and live on minimal calories and water, and only completely wake up every month or so on a nice, sparkly snowy day to stretch and check my provisions. I could so do that.
Anyway, KDE didn't actually fix any of the things I was hoping it would fix, but it *is* making my computer feel all sparkly and new! Now whenever I get all in a rut I can just switch desktop environments and wipe clean. Yay. And so I can remember how to do it, the file I need to edit is /etc/sysconfig/desktop .
It's nice to have my keyboard stuck on dvorak when I have to get computer help, 'cause I have to do all the typing so I have to really understand what's going on. I'm sure
dreamsquirrel is getting tired of having to lean over me and spell everything out though. q:

(Though if we replace "lean over" with "crawl on top of" it's much more exciting;-))
