Happy All Hallows!

Yep, really am doing NaNo. Not that I've actually *written* anything yet, but [livejournal.com profile] necreavit is all set and ready, and I shall try to keep my NaNo wibbling there after tonight. (Feel free to friend it if you care.)

And I did go to the meetup-- there's photographic evidence at the bottom of the thread there. I'm the one nearest the camera, looking vaguely demonic in blue. It was a fun time just talking with a lot of very amazing people, including [livejournal.com profile] zamochit and [livejournal.com profile] thirteenmirrors who ended up on my flist. (But remind me never to mention RPF in mixed company again. Even if they are cool with f_w.)

Watched about half of the XF marathon, as did my mother, apparently. I've decided that last fic I posted was wrong; Cheney isn't possessed by the black oil, he's a vampire. (Cheney, Texas? Could they *be* more obvious?)

Cocoa flavored peeps are . . . odd.

I kept up my four years' tradition and spent the hour around midnight wandering around outside and communing with the Spirit. It was really nice out tonight, and if I hadn't had so much to do I'd've tried to sleep the night out there again. But I didn't even feel up to wandering all the way to the creek this year; I just found an isolated, quiet pool of shadow near the Mall and sat for awhile, and since this is the first year I've had both a candle and a means of lighting it, stared at a candle flame for a while and thought about stuff and practiced just being. And I ought to be more lyrical about it, but I'm not feeling at all lyrical today. Oh well. And then I came in as noisy people started trickling by from parties.

Mom says I get all the leftover Halloween candy when I go home to vote tomorrow, so s'all good.

What the heck is RPF and f_w?

RPF = real person fic. That's when people write romance stories about actual people, like Orlando bloom.

F_W = Fandom Wank. www.journalfen.net/~fandom_wank

And randomly, that sounds like a nice way to finish off the night, I think.

RPF : Or just stories about people like John Kerry or Amadeus Mozart or Julius Ceasar or David Hume (http://www.omniheurist.net/columns/phil/hume.html"). I never much cared for the celebrity stuff, but historical and political figures are great fun. Unfortunately, most people lump it all with fantasy sex with LotR actors and boyband members, don't stop to think that if they've watched Disney's Pocahontas or read Shakespeare they've enjoyed RPF, and are kind of uncomfortable with the idea.

F_W is where people report anyone acting stupid or overwrought in online fandom, and then mock them for it. Kind of like ljdrama.org only more fun. Did that steampunk rpg end up on F_W once? I'm recalling vague memories of something.
