But I've said nothing so far and I can keep it up as long as it takes.

Oh, fine, since everyone else is. You know how it goes: first 20 random songs (not counting instrumental) on your mp3 playlist and copy a line of lyrics from each. Flist, try to name the song and/or artist and I'll edit the post with correct guessers as they're posted.

6 is I'm Too Sexy. Still looking, want to get this in before I'm scooped by someone. (;

It was 15, btw. d-:

No. Six is not "I'm Too Sexy". It is one I got from you a long time ago, however.

Yours was 15. I *do* have other friends. q: Actually it's very interesting, it's coming in from two different trails. the people who gacked it from you say 15, the hp people all say 20.

Nope, 8 isn't Tom Lehrer, but you're on something resembling the right track.

16 is available for download here (http://www.lordsoftherhymes.com/). I've mentioned them here before. Oh, wow, they have a new track out!
ext_1512: (Default)

Hook, by Blues Traveler. Unless you're listening to the Generics version.

[identity profile] stellar-dust.livejournal.com 2004-05-02 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
7 is Tomorrow Belongs to Me from Cabaret.
Because I know you, I'm going to bet that 8 is by Tom Lehrer, but I don't know the song. (;
13 is Anything You Can Do from Annie Get Your Gun.
15 is I Want It That Way, Backstreet Boys. "(Let's find out what two hearts make)/(Come get some Jedi beefcake)/I've thought it each and every day/I wanted Padme...."
16 intrigues me.
19 is What I Did for Love from A Chorus Line.
20 is Try by Jet Set Six.

Deleted, reposted to get title. Don't know song or mood. d-:

8 is Spike Jones. "Riders in the Sky" I think.

I'll admit to Googling the mood, so I'll email it rather than post, since it can't count.

[identity profile] zodiaccat.livejournal.com 2004-05-03 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
Just realized, I meant "Current Music" for the one I Googled.

Hmm

[identity profile] theemptylife.livejournal.com 2004-05-02 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I was gonna object that this was biased towards those in the mainstream...and then I googled a couple, and you get at least one Thumb up from a music snob, but I'd bet you couldnt get one of mine..
ext_193: (Default)

Re: Hmm

[identity profile] melannen.livejournal.com 2004-05-03 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
I am so far from a music snob that I don't even know what the mainstream *is* at the moment. I just listen to whatever passes my way. But I don't think any of these are newer than about two years, and at least half of them pre-date the 80's . . . out of curiosity, which one wins your approval? Tolstoi?

Nope, I can't get any of yours. Heck, I'd be lucky to get most of *mine*. q:

Re: Hmm

[identity profile] theemptylife.livejournal.com 2004-05-03 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Approval comes from having even more obscure music tastes than I. A lot of the lines I didn't know came from groups I didn't even recognize. Except the voodoo doll of a republican pres, I know that band and they amuse me.

[identity profile] speakerender.livejournal.com 2004-05-03 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
11. Garth Brooks - Papa Loved Momma
12. Tolstoi (maybe?)
ext_193: (Default)

Leo Nicolaevitch Tolstoi new everything there is to know about you.

[identity profile] melannen.livejournal.com 2004-05-03 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yep! Did you honestly get Tolstoi without Googling it? How?

Re: Leo Nicolaevitch Tolstoi new everything there is to know about you.

[identity profile] speakerender.livejournal.com 2004-05-03 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes I got it without googling, now I know who its by *grin*

[identity profile] webbapettigrew.livejournal.com 2004-05-03 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
11. "Papa Loved Mama"
8. Spike Jones and his City Slickers wrote it, but the title escapes me...ARGH!

Hey, how do you get the picture on your journal front page to be different from your default? Is it something specific to that theme, or what?

/wants an xf icon on the front page, but doesn't want to change her default chessie patch ...
ext_193: (pensive)

[identity profile] melannen.livejournal.com 2004-05-03 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, I just hardcoded it into the theme as a graphic. (as foo/icon.jpg so it'd be easy to switch) Bad style, but eh, whatever, I wanted it to match. It links to my allpics page, too.

I need to play with my theme and style a bit more. Eh, later.
ext_1512: (vab)

[identity profile] stellar-dust.livejournal.com 2004-05-03 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. Guess I'll have to actually muck around with *code* then. Meh. d-:

Sweet. I was hoping someone would get those. Do you have an artist name for either of them?

[identity profile] reclusivewaffle.livejournal.com 2004-05-03 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
3 is jacob's ladder. Artist is probably no one I've heard of.

Yep! Don't need an artist for that one.

[identity profile] random-dragon.livejournal.com 2004-05-03 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
haHA! I know #16! It's from "the Lords of the Rhymes" by the Lords of the Rhymes, right? The others, I don't know, but everyone else seems to have been able to get them, so it's okay.

Best hip-hop group *ever*.

nope

[identity profile] theemptylife.livejournal.com 2004-05-03 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I have to disagree and say that the pure shock value of Rap Group makes them the best hip hop ever. One has to be in pure awe of lyrics like "I'll f*** you while youre pregnant and call it a threesome."
ext_193: (pirate)

Re: nope

[identity profile] melannen.livejournal.com 2004-05-03 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh. That doesn't even rhyme. Not to mention having Quenya lyrics and sampling Leonard Nimoy albums.

"It's the chronic pipeweed that I'm smokin'
When I get high I spin tales like Tolkien."

Re: nope

[identity profile] theemptylife.livejournal.com 2004-05-03 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Well it'd rhyme if I remembered the line that came before it, which is equally offensive. Of course, I dont remember it because its a weird little group that a friend of a friend put together. One day, though, they'll be huge. And in interviews I'll say "Yeah, I knew them back in the day. And if I'd known what was to happen, I would've put a stop to it."
And you stay up late.

[identity profile] random-dragon.livejournal.com 2004-05-04 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that you mentioned that one of these is TMBG, I can identify number 10 as being from "My Evil Twin" by They Might Be Giants (though I actually found this out by looking up the lyrics for reasons nearly unrelated to your meme). I applaud your good taste in music, even though I haven't heard of half of these groups/people.
ext_193: (Default)

[identity profile] melannen.livejournal.com 2004-05-05 11:00 am (UTC)(link)
There's something about TMBG that just screams Good Taste, isn't there.
