when will they ever learn

I dreamed last night that Archchanchellor Kirwan had sent an e-mail to everyone at the university stating that in order to comply with the new federal laws, all female students would be required to keep their arms, legs, hair, and faces covered while in the company of males. My subconcious really knows how to slather on the political symbolism with a trowel, doesn't it?

Actually it wasn't even that bad a dream, I cobbled together a rather sexy outfit out of a lot of safety pins, a long, silky purple scarf around my face, a white lace shawl over my hair and shoulders, and under it an iridescent green himation to hide my hands in, a loose white acetone blouse with wide sleeves which I tied up to show off flashes of my belly, and a pair of capacious purple satin harem pants. I actually own all of the above parts of the costume except the pants. The dream may in fact have been less a visceral cry for freedom than my inner child whining that it still wants a pair of fancy harem pants.

Speaking of politics, I was reading [livejournal.com profile] stellar_dust's friendslist and ran across the latest Doonesbury storyline, so I skipped back a few days to make sure it wasn't just a dream sequence, and I just kept staring at the comic thinking "omfg, he looks old!" He looks old enough to be a vietnam vet! And just yesterday while on my freak trip I was reading my shelf of old collections and watching him skip happily through the jungle chasing butterflies with Phred the Terrorist. I just hope this current war doesn't drag on long enough that we need that kind of storyline.

Also, I'd like to state right here that if they do reinstitute the draft I'm going to run away and join the navy. Just so you won't be too surprised if it happens.

On a completely different note, re two entries ago: prerhaps I should alter the terms so that you don't qualify unless you're cool enough to already know what a mathom *is* q-:

Thats sheet, mon. Just because I dont know what a mathom is doesnt mean I shouldnt be allowed to have one so I can put it up on the fridge... It can go on the fridge, right? I mean, I dont see what the deal is...I dont know what half the stuff in my apartment is.. I mean, what IS a marimba anyways?

If while in the navy you dock in Canada, look me up, because thats where I'll be if they start drafting people.

This is where I woulda commented on the idea that someone wouldn't request something if they didn't know what it was. Then I saw that refuted by a comment. poo.
