Multicultural Update:

Unshelled sunflower seeds are *utter crack*. And messy, too. (Yes, this counts as multicultural, because I once read a National Geographic article about how they're really popular in Eastern Europe.)

Also, I discovered that I'm out of standard cheap cocoa mix. (I still have a few packs of the rum-flavored kind, but that has to last till I'm old enough for real rum.) So, since we're reading Como Agua Para Chocolate in Spanish, I thought I'd try it the Mexican way: squares of ultra-dark chocolate stirred into hot water. YUM. yum, yum, yum. Plus, it doesn't actually dissolve, just goes into gooey suspension, so you get to stare at the lava-lamp-like Brownian motion if you're feeling in need of meditation. This is my new comfort drink.

Also, tonight was Cultural Explosion, roommate-Jen and I went, since it's put on by our house. Very good for what was essentially a talent show. Many of the same acts were there as at the International Dinner last semester; the Lion Dancers were more acrobatic, but they interacted less this time, and I think I like that better. Several Something represented American culture with a medley of protest songs, which was lovely. And lots of Asian music! Yay! And pretty pretty Asian clothes! And a martial arts performance which was very impressive, especially the jump-kicks, and reminded me I really, really want to learn a martial art, except I have the sneaking suspicion I'd be awful at it.

Also, Jen and I left early and skipped out on the free food.

I'm mainly only posting to get the coveted first posting spot..

On the subject of cultural food: Long live boba, which I can no longer regularly afford.

On the subject of melting chocolate: Try melting a hershey bar on top of an appropriately sized brownie.

On the subject of skipping out on free food: . . . WHY?!?!?! ..(oh the humanity)

Oh thank goodness! I was on the verge of death from disbelief. But thats ok, I had enough free food tonight for everyone one to skip out at least once.
