I'm still here. Sorta. Am completely incapable of accomplishing anything however.

Principles of psychology: on a variable-ratio reinforcement schedule, an experimental rat will soon learn to press the reload key constantly, to the point where it is detrimental to health. Have resorted to unplugging ethernet cord for varying amounts of time.

Am posting because I have to figure this out, or it shall drive me mad(der). There was this song about a year or two ago by one of those whiny-voiced girl singers like Celine Dion or Avril Lavigne or somebody, and it was about this affair that they had to keep secret, and there was a refrain that went something like "and no-one will know but just the two of us" which is stuck in my head, but apparently not right, because no variant of it brings up anything on google. And there was some conceit about rewinding or something similarly electronic, and looking back on the whole thing a few years from now, I think. Help?

Oh, and while I'm at it-- I once read this kid's book where the characters were a set of mismatched dollhouse dolls. One of them was made of celluloid and got set on fire by another one for spite. But the main plot was how the family was broke and the main character turned out to be a valuable antique and had to volunteer to be sold to a museum, only it turned out she was only on loan. I have never found it again. That one's only been bothering me for ten years.

Edit: Sure, I"ll do the interestlist meme, although I think most of mine are fairly self-explanatory. Ask me about anything on my info page and I'll explain to the best of my ability.

Got it. It's Alanis Morisette. Hands Clean. The epitome of whiny. "We'll fast forward to a few years later, no one knows except the both of us. I have honored your request for silence, and you've washed your hands clean of us."

Ten points for the panda.

Yes! Thank you! Now that I have it again, I recall how incredibly annoying it was. q: But that refrain is horribly catchy and almost makes up for the rest of the song.

Figures? Like number figures, action figures, someone sayin' "Welp, the way I figures it, y'all need a new cow."? Or maybe just "It figures"? That's about the only one I see that neither known or searchable.

er, I don't have figures on my interests list, 'm not sure what you were looking at-- I have string figures (http://www.livejournal.com/interests.bml?int=string+figures) which is due to my periodic obsession with cat's cradles (http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1441625) and their uses in folk magic; string figures is the proper culture-neutral folklorist's term for them . . .
