'That's what I bought it for!'

It *snowed*. How the heck did I miss three inches of snow? /me looks askance.

Edit: According to the date on this entry, it's Saturday. Since when is it Saturday? I could have sworn today was Sunday. Um. Methinks maybe I should start on more regular sleeping habits. Not to mention leaving my room more often.

I didn't like Desperado quite as much; the American guy in the dorky cowboy shirt was annoying rather than fascinating, and I was almost relieved when he died. The gunfights were still somewhat interesting, although, if your biggest problem is finding time to reload, wouldn't it be wise to, maybe, think about conserving your ammo? As in, maybe, not shooting the guy five more times after he's already down? The Mariachi had no style.

Hello. What's with the little Mexican kids in yellow t-shirts? Is this a common thing south of the border? Is there a belief in redemptive angels who take that form or something? He was cute, anyway.

So was Carolina, although I expected her to do more kicking of tail than she did. I adore her dresses and skirts, too, but she really needs to learn about sensible shoes. The bookstore! The surgery! Bwahaha! I love.

I didn't know you could do that much of a love scene in an R-rated movie. I think I will have to reconsider my fanfic ratings. Also, at this point El has, what, an amateurly-tended gunshot wound in his left shoulder, at least five knife punctures all over his body, and fairly severe blood loss? And they say h/c writers are unrealistic.

What with all the candles and . . . etcetera, I'm not *surprised* the bookstore caught on fire. :P
Also, Salma Hayek's singing voice gives me the shivers.

Okay, the guitar case thing. First, I echo [livejournal.com profile] elspethdixon's comment about the secret mariachi brotherhood. Also, the flamethrower yes, the remote-controlled bomb possibly, although rather impractical for street fighting, the rocket launcher *maybe*, but I don't see the point of building automatic guns into a guitar case. Wouldn't that make it rather more difficult to aim, not to mention dramatically complicating reloading? Why can't they just do what El does and store normal guns in there?

Er. I found Bucho rather dishy. And also felt quite sorry for him, really. He doesn't do anything in the movie to make me think of him as evil, except possibly the way he treats his subordinates, and hey, that's *nothing* on the way *El* treats his subordinates. I mean, yeah, he traffics coke, but he seems really very humane for a drug dealer, and is rather upset about the wholesale massacres, and I don't blame him too much for trying to kill Carolina. She was trying to do the same to him, not to mention she was cheating on him with his brother. Plus he has that whole snarky villain thing going for him.

I was fascinated by the lack of a clear-cut morality in this movie, actually, unlike OUaTiM, and most of the westerns I've seen, where the bad guys get it and the good guys live happily ever after. There are no real good guys in Desperado; the closest thing the movie has to a conscience gets killed by a maniac knife thrower shortly in; everybody else is really just in it for what they can get, except El, who appears to be just causing bloodbaths because he doesn't have a girlfriend anymore and he's bored. Not that there's anything *wrong* with that.

On the second viewing of Mexico: Ah, he was already wearing the black sequins when he went to meet Ajedrez, that explains it. Dressing up for the party, that's our Sands all right. However, I'm now curious as to where the "who does that" line I've been seeing in fanfic comes from, since it wasn't in the movie.

Still love the Billy Chambers. And why haven't I seen even any *mention* of Billy/Jorge? That's the most subtextual relationship in the movie, next to possibly Jorge/his old partner. I mean, "Did you get your man?" "One of them." Just because he dies at the end. I mean, he comes *awfully* quietly, don't you get the impression they already knew each other?

*cough* Going away now.

Now I want to teach myself how to shoot. Anyone know their way around an air rifle? There's an old Daisy 95 Timberwolf and half a carton of shot in the attic, but sadly, no instruction manual.

Oh, and in case all the pistoleros and pirates and such are confusing you, I am still all about the Harry Potter. Last nightthis afternoon I had a Mark Evans/Gabrielle Delacour dream, and if that isn't dedication, well I just don't know what is.
