Spoiler Alert!
...yeah, so
dryponder is running another superhero redesign meme. This time, it's Stephanie Brown.
I actually did an extensive redesign back in the day, in which I based a new Spoiler costume on what *I'd* wear if I were a DCU superheroine: a costume where nobody can tell you're female, and therefore won't rape you with a power drill in order to be 'edgy'. But after a year or more lurking around Girl-Wonder, I wanted to do something more girl-positive. And less angry.

I based the costume on gymnastics uniforms - Steph's only actual training, other than being allowed in the Batcave whenever Bruce was in one of his less dangerous moods, was high school varsity gymnastics. One of the things that really so annoyed me about her Robin costume (other than way they just stuck a skirt on Tim's costume) was the way it was so totally unsuited to someone with a gymnastic style - it would've been impossible to move it. So this has the gymnastics influence, plus elements of both Dick's and Tim's original costumes, plus legwarmers! Because Dick told her they looked good, and Dick's fashion sense is impeccable. This one was drawn from scratch on the tablet in Gimp - I did it in about an hour start to finish, with photorefs from Google, while watching the Fake News Hour. I was going for energy and spontaneity, see, which is my excuse for it being so sloppy.
And tonight during the Fake News Hour I did one of Steph after patrol, hanging around the Batcave with her custom eggplant-colored warm-ups over her costume (because she's all for tradition, but the cave's chilly for bare legs, and besides, Tim has to put out if he wants to see her in costume when they're not working.)

I actually like this one a lot better; partly that dark colors and static poses are more forgiving, partly that I was more practiced with the style on my second try. But the anatomy's still screwy - I couldn't find a good photoref for the pose.
