Being the first in a series of unecessarily snarky reviews of University of Maryland campus publications, just because I can:
An analysis of the May 2003 issue of the Cow Nipple, College Park's premier medium-quality humor publication.
Unfunny penis jokes: 7
References to oral sex: 7
Depictions of sorority/frat members as stupid and/or slutty: 5
Made-up Mote quotes: 5
References to STD's: 4
Student group insults that made me want to join said group: 3
Articles mocking other campus publications: 3
References to friends of mine as communist hippies: 2
Throwaway jokes about child molestation: 2
Incidences of Mote slash: 1
Swift references: 1
Zombie jokes: 1
Articles which include actual humor and insight into society or issues: 1
Recommendations: If you're looking for a view into the essential stupidity and tragedy of the human condition that will leave you shedding tears of laughter, read the Diamondback's editorials page. If you want no humor, but broad, unbiased coverage of actual campus news, living, and issues, I can't recommend the Cow Nipple too highly. However, the editors should look into increasing the ratio of zombie to penis jokes.
