No, keyboard still not working. Currently using opera for linux on a SPARC workstation in the solaris lab in the engineering library. Living in small old house in a rural college town with or without spouses, with a couple foster children and various plants and animals and perhaps a kid of my own. Going on book tours, con visits, and research trips. Or living in parents' house as recluse while trying to avoid working.

47. WHAT'S THE WEIRDEST DREAM YOU'VE EVER HAD? I'm lying half-asleep on my bed, and fall off hard, hitting the back of my neck painfully against the bottom bunk. The breath is knocked out of me and I've got pins-and-needles feeling all over my body. I lie there a minute to recover, then stand up and have walked halfway across the room before realizing that 1) I never
resumed breathing and 2) my body is still laying below the bed. Have fun determining all the things I can and can't do now I'm dead. (Seem to be basically Ghost Squad type ghost). Wake up to class in fifteen minutes and think. "oh, damn. It wasn't real."

Have you tried
kill `ps ax | grep 'xscreensaver -nosplash' | head -n1 | awk '{ print $1; }'`(ie. just killing xscreensaver)That should kill the screensaver. You might not be able to do much but at least it's not blocking you.
Also, I thought you were running Mandrake. Did you switch to Red Hat or are you just using a screensaver from it?
