Yeah, the fact that quality is my absolute first filter means that I frequently miss the fact that a lot of fans actually do voluntarily read deeply crappy fic. (It gives me a warped view of what's out there sometimes, and occasionally rose-colored glasses on fandom in general, because I just automatically filter the absolute crap out of my worldview entirely.)
