They both came from other people in comments elsewhere (who I have forgotten about), so I won't take credit! I think there is pontential for wank with both of them (particularly the second) but I also think they are a good idea.

(The other possibility I wouldn't mind is to have an official policy that original fic is not allowed, but AO3 will never make that judgement for an author, kind of like the warnings policy, so you can have all the edge cases you want as long as you're willing to call them fanfic. That's basically the current policy anyway, though. I'd much rather have it be explicitly allowed.)
