I think that the poll probably is largely pointless in the context of the AO3 discussion (at least as regarding specific cases; it may have some value in terms of pointing out the existence of edge cases to people who hadn't thought about them. Which is only a small subset of people in the discussion.) And also pointless in terms of rigorous statistics-gathering. Mostly I posted it because I wanted to see the answers, and also, any excuse for a fandom poll is a good excuse.

And, yes, the vocabulary I chose is going to effect people's answers, but making poll questions that were carefully noncommittal would have been both a lot more effort, and not necessarily any better, since the reaction to the different wording choices is part of the information I was interested in. (This was basically just the first thirty examples I thought of on a weekend afternoon.)

And I put the last question in on purpose partly to test to what extent people were thinking about intent! Answers are interesting (especially in light of answers to other questions.)
