It might not be a winning argument but it's definitely the one I made. I want to allow all the edge cases too - and I was starting to think like you that demanding the author to at least have one or a few fanworks posted would be one way to allow non-fan material - but I never said and never would say that an argument to keep original material out of the AO3 is a quality question. That's an appalling argument, imo, and unsupportable. The ONLY reason I am against opening the archive to non fan works is a resource and advocacy issue. Members who have put money into the OTW have subscribed to a mission that might not include 'provide hosting to original works'.
