Yeah, I think if I do a more elaborate workup, I'll either eliminate polls that are of a specific person's circle, or do them up separately. But I *did* include one in my initial list, so...
Although, part of the point of a meta-analysis like this is that *all* studies are biased, but averaging out studies with different biases can reduce the effect of that. (A real statisician's analysis would be a lot more nuanced than mine, but she'd be working with better data, too. I hope.) I don't know that "members of the Darth Maul Estrogen Brigade" is automatically a less biased sample on the sexuality axis than "torachan's circle". (Or, for that matter, "fans who are trans".)
(I suspect estrogen brigades were somewhat self-selecting for people who had a particular conception of gender and sexuality. I know I, for one, always viscerally hated the concept on those grounds, so there's me selected out.)
...though if what you're trying to tell me is "please don't use/cite/publicize my poor poll" I will happily put it on an ignore list.
