Yuletide Letter 2025
Oh no, I have become one of those people who only uses their DW for yuletide letters. :( Maybe this year I will make an effort to get back to journaling.
Anyway for now this is just a quick and dirty paste of my signup before signups close; I will come back and clean it up soon I hope. Until then: I have no general DNWs and a few fandom-specific ones are in the signup. I like all kinds of fic, I like crossovers, I am one of those annoying people who really truly does just want anything at all for their small fandoms. the fandom:yuletide tag on my journal has a lot of previous letters and things; feel free to mine that for general likes and other fandoms to crossover with.

Summary
I am just super intrigued by superheroes using the power of measurement. Please be super nerdy about this, and I'll be good with whatever you come up with. Yes! precise measurement and easy measurement conversion *is* what gives us power!
*Monsieur Kilogram seems to have actually been the prototype kilogram? how did he become a person? what is it like to be a person who used to be an exactly measured ball of platinum-iridium? how did changing to a formula using the planck constant affect him?
*Mole seems to be the team leader, based on the intro. I have high levels of Mole Interest, and he is largely a mystery. How did he become the leader? what are his thoughts on leadership? He's the least-passing team member, what is his life like outside working hours?
*we actually get to see Professor Second's secret identity a bit. How did she get her powers? How does she use her time powers everyday? what's it like now that her kid knows who she is?
*Candela is. Look nobody cares about candelas. What is it like to be the member of the team nobody has heard of? how is she actually important and powerful?
General prompts: Do they have a team of Imperials who are enemies/rivals? Can they Combine somehow to make secondary units and what's that like, what are Joule and Coulomb like, is Becquerel Second's evil twin? Also I'd love any sort of porn with any non-child canon characters, nominated or not, that involves their powers and/or their units (or tentacles.)

Summary
I am in the middle of a very slow rearead of this fandom, and just finished Desolation Island as you might be able to tell from my character noms. I'm fine if you bring in things from the rest of the series and if my prompts are contradicted by things I've forgotten feel free to ignore or not but also if you only want to reread up to book 5 that's fine.
*James Dillon - He was clearly doomed to no honorable ending other than death once he lied about the fugitives, but this is fanfic, we're not bound by that, so I'd love an AU where he doesn't die heroically. Where he's only badly wounded on the Cacafuego and Stephen has to figure out how to force him to live by the time they get back to port. Where he's only mildly wounded on the Cacafuego, and has to deal with surrender, parole, and court-martial alongside the rest of the crew. Where the Cacafuego never finds them and things go on as they were until the tension finally inevitably snaps. I'd love backstory on him too, what happened the last time he was in Ireland that changed his relationship with his faith, or a glimpse of his backstory as a fiery young revolutionary, or of young still-idealistic Stephen through his eyes. I'd also love any of the events on the Sophie that we see through Stephen's eyes on him retold in his POV.
*Louisa and Michael - I love them as characters and also find them fascinating. I'd love literally anything from Louisa's POV, what she thinks is going with Stephen, anything about her time with Diana (feel free to ship it), the pregnancy, post-canon or pre-canon. Same with Michael - what's actually going through his head in the escape at the end of DI? What's it like for him on the whaler? Something about his love for Chinese poetry?
*Sir Joseph - Sir Joseph so clearly has a crush (maybe romantic, maybe just a friend-crush) on Stephen in these early books and has no idea what to do about it. Please expand on that. Also love anything through his POV about Stephen's early days as a spy, or his view from home of any of the main adventures, or general spy maneuverings. I'd also love a fic - AU or not - where he recruits Diana, or some other character we'd never expect, to also be a spy. And natural history nerdery is always good.

Fandom: Brennu-Njáls saga | Njal's Saga - Anonymous
Summary
So, I am not, like, a great scholar of the sagas, I just read this once and listened to the SagaThing podcasts on it, so you do not need to be a great scholar of the sagas either, but it is so full of things I would like fanfic of. I really enjoy headcanoning Njal as a trans man, so if you would like to do that, either in canon or in a different-setting AU, that would be awesome. Also, I totally ship Njal and Gunnar and hateship their wives, so anything along those lines would be fun, or really anything exploring wtf was up with those four's relationships in any form, including poly (or sedoretu if you're into that; ancient Iceland and 0 have a lot in common). Other things I would love to see include: more CSI:Bergthorshvoll along the line of the famous cheese mold, Njal lawyering like a mofo, Things We Are No Longer Allowed To Do At The Allthing, Icelanders in Space, etc.

Fandom: Mademoiselle de Maupin - Théophile Gautier
Summary
I would really love anything for this fandom! My only DNW is a story where Theo is written as explicitly 100% cis or any of the main trio is written as explicitly 100% straight. I would love a story that does explore their relationships with gender and sexuality beyond where canon does, though. The way this story, through all the characters' POV, explores gender and sexuality in ways that are immediately familiar to a modern reader (fursuit sex!) but with characters who have an entirely different set of tools to understand them with is fascinating to me, and I want them all to figure out who they are and how they fit with themselves and with each other and get a queer as hell happy ever after out of it.
Obviously a post-canon OT3 that resolves the cliffhanger is important (or even just a fic where d'Albert and Rosette debrief with each other after Theo leaves) - maybe a fic where d'Albert learns the joy of crossdressing and genderqueerness too, where he puts on a dress and get his hair done and finally manages to see himself as pretty? How would their meetings and relationships go differently in a modern AU where they have words and communities available for many more options? Or maybe a canon-branching AU where things went just a little bit further in Rosette's original seduction of Theo? How about a modern AU where they all meet through furry fandom?
I'd love to see more of Theo's adventures before d'Albert comes into the story too, or some of the parts of Rosette's life and story we never really get a change to see, or a 3rd person bystander POV of any of it (someone else who was involved in the theatrical and is there for the drama in more ways than one?)
And speaking of bystanders there's poor old Silvio who is getting all of this dumped on him via letters but we know nothing about. What is the reaction on the Silvio homestead when the latest installment of the d'Albert story arrives in the mail? Who is he, this person d'Albert is willing to share all his innermost drama with, and what has there relationship been? (I don't *not* ship it if you're so inclined.)
Basically there's so much in this world that I want to see expanded on, I would enjoy anything about anyone. Here is your official exception if you want to write about a non-nominated character or even general worldbuilding of the vivid but sketched-in world (this book has such an amazing sense of place for a book with such a vague setting.)

Fandom: Dimension 20: On A Bus
I have not watched any other actual play but I am more or less aware of how DnD works. This one was just so amazingly done, with the best DM out there, that I had to request it. It's a great tragedy we didn't get more episodes. I'd love anything: backstory or ship for any of the characters, worldbuilding expanding on the campaign, post-canon exploring what if we got more episodes, etc. If you want to go a little bit fourth-wall-breaking and have the players' choices apparent in the story that's fine too.

I've put only Renee in because I don't have prompts at the ready for any of the other nominated characters, but I would legitimately love any fanfic at all for this fandom, so if you're burning with an idea for somebody else (nominated or not) I swear I will love it just as much.
I would love something about Mairelon and Renee's history before the Saltash Set was stolen. I have always headcanoned they had a sort of fake dating arrangement then, keeping their visible relationship at a level that was just scandalous enough to be useful to them without ever going over the line in public (maybe sometimes going over the line in private? Maybe not?) I'd also love anything at all about Renee though - her magical work and career, hwhat was her first Season as a wizard like (what about her showpiece spell for her coming out?), what was she was up to while Mairelon was on the continent and her relationships outside and inside of Mairelon's inner circle, her mentoring Kim, her thoughts on events in France, anything really about Renee.
I've always appreciated female characters who are staunchly happy to remain single even under pressure not to be, so I'd love something that explores that too, Renee's life as an independent woman in a milieu that's so focused on pairing people off. What are her reasons for that, how did she come to choose that? Does she have a secret sweetie or star-crossed love affair of some gender or another, or is she happy to be a confirmed bachelorette by choice? How does she handle all the matchmaking, especially when she was younger and still building her reputation (and how does her experience compare to Kim's?)

Fandom: Dogsbody - Diana Wynne Jones
Summary
This is one of my favorite books from childhood and I've been offering it for years and never matched, so I figured I'd try requesting instead for once. I would love any fic for this fandom. I'd love post-canon for Kathleen figuring out her new life, I'd love anything showing us more about the Hunter, I'd love to see more of post-canon Sirius back out with the luminaries - has he changed? did the lessons he learned stick? - or anything about Sol, too, why he agreed to let Sirius live on his planet, more of what he thinks of the whole thing, his love for his planets and creatures and how that contrasts with luminary life and the luminaries without planets that have life. I'd love anything with Kathleen and the Hunter post-canon too - do they encounter each other again? how does the Hunter remember Kathleen, how is Kathleen marked by him? Kathleen and Sol post-canon? I'd love Sol & Sirius fic too, Sol shepherding Sirius back into luminary life, Sol during the trial? Sol/Sirius or either of them with the Hunter would be fun too. DNW shipping with Kathleen even aged up or turned into a luminary unless it's a background OC her own age, but Kathleen friendship with the others or Sol knocking some sense into Sirius for pining over her would be fine.
