I don't know if I can summarize all of juries! A federal grand jury is very different from your standard trial jury too. Our main job was to "keep the prosecutors honest" - if they can't convince a panel of ordinary people that a case is worth pursuing, they have to start over or drop it before they even charge anybody with a crime.
