Actually most of what I read in this fandom isn't Venom/Eddie, even though they do make a classic enemies-to-lovers storyline! But that's all there in the canon. Venom comes on a ship of aliens to invade Earth and enslave humanity, and instead he finds Eddie, his perfect match, and after some struggles with communication they team up together to defeat Venom's old team and save the Earth. It's pretty great!

But the Venom movie also has Eddie's ex-girlfriend Anne, and her new boyfriend, Dan. And the Eddie/Venom/Anne/Dan is just so gloriously complicated and full of mixed feelings! Anne and Dan aren't sure whether Venom is still dangerous and trying to kill everybody or not; Anne still hasn't entirely forgiven Eddie for what led to their breakup, but also isn't over him; Eddie still isn't over her at all but is trying to be the good guy and not an asshole to Dan about it even though he really wants to be and also maybe he is over her now that he has Venom and doesn't know what to do about that and also doesn't know if they can be trusted with Venom (or vice versa); Venom is picking up on Eddie's complicated feelings about Anne and Dan but missing all the nuances and trying to uncomplicate it; and Dan is just of standing there in the middle of this flaming crash zone full of wreckage and trying to just be a decent human being about it all?
