Discord in some ways is a little bit like going back to the really early days of online fandom where it was all MLs and IRC... only it's all realtime and it's organized better in realtime, if not in an archival sense. (And MLs were never good archives even after Yahoo/eGroups gave us web access to post archives, although they did better with making what you saw when you'd been away for a while manageable than Discord does.)

(I actually date back to the even earlier days of Usenet, but no one wants those back.)
