Indigenous Peoples Day, a day late

I live on occupied land. The communities and cultures of the people who belong to this land were so thoroughly destroyed, and the people who looked back so deeply devoted to forgetting inconvenient injustices, that we don't and can't ever know what exactly they called themselves or how they organized themselves before they were conquered, but most of them almost certainly spoke an Algonquian language and/or an Iroquois language. Today many of the survivors have come together as the state-recognized Piscataway-Conoy Tribe, Piscataway Indian Nation, and Nanticoke Indian Association.

It's hard to know what to do with an injustice that entrenched and that inescapable, but Otipêyimisiw-iskwêwak Kihci-kîsikohk says the best way for settlers to support indigenous people is to listen to them and to pay them, so while I have my card out I have upped my ongoing Patreon pledge to Indian & Cowboy Media Network, too.
