1. After all that talking about radio, I have been really missing my old MP3 collection lately. Partly because I have been listening to a lot of radio music, partly because [personal profile] landofnowhere got me listening to the pirated Schickele Mix podcast. Mostly because the fandom I just fell headfirst back into keeps getting old favorite songs stuck in my head.

So I ordered myself a super-heavy-duty theoretically unkillable solid state backup drive for an early birthday present, and I guess as soon as it comes I get to play "attempt data retrieval on the ~10 dead backup drives and laptops you have sitting around" and also all the old backup CDs, and also the 3.5" floppies my mom found that contain my windows paintbrush art from c. 1993. That'll be a project. If I find the energy I may also buy some archival DVDs to back up all my mom's digital photos on for mother's day.

Anyway, in the meantime, here is the Spotify playlist I've been listening to while writing the newest unfinishable drawerfic: Neon Blue. No prize if you can guess the pairing! :P

2. If anybody is still interested in [community profile] fictional_fans being a thing, someone who isn't me needs to post there, I refuse to be the mod who posts five times in a row with increasing desperation. We did so well keeping it alive for a couple weeks!

The Andy Warhol museum does a fair amount of work with 3.5" floppies, since he did a bit of computer art. You're in good company.

I have my mp3 collection in carefully curated playlists. Problem: they were made in Windows Media Player, and that isn't available on Win10, and so I'm not sure what I'm going to do when my Win7 laptop finally bites the dust. Also, WMP syncs just fine with my four-year-old smartphone but not my three-year-old tablet. I haven't been able to find a music app that will read my playlists, no matter what format I save them in. Most modern music apps apparently make playlists for you, by reading the genre stuff is tagged as and then the stuff you listen to most within that genre. But I don't want that, I want the playlists I've spent almost two decades putting together.

Good luck on the data retrieval.

I joined the comm, if that helps at all. If I think of something to post, I will.
