(I want to wave a flag to fandom in general saying YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAG WITH THE CANONICAL IF THE CANONICAL IS BAD but nobody ever listens to me)

So I'm just curious -- what is the comics canon on his name? Because given the way they introduced him in the movie, I assumed that his American mom and his American friends and teachers etc. had been calling him Erik Stevens ever since he was born, and "N'Jadaka" was a secret between him and his father.
