I think one of my problems with the English name puns is a lot of the are a little TOO on the nose. Dogmatix for the dog? Auughh.

iirc he doesn't appear in the first book, but from my memory of the other English ones I've read, I had no idea there was any level to it other than "ooh it's a word with "dog" at the start and "ics" at the end!" and that he was actually supposed to be dogmatic. I mean, "Getafix" for the druid with the potions, REALLY?
